Introduction

National Black Food & Justice Alliance (“NBF&JA” or We”) respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy. This policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you use the NBF&JA website, blackfoodjustice.org, our Yielding Access to Market Solutions (“YAMS”) mobile application, and all the websites and internet properties owned or operated by us, regardless of the medium by which NBF&JA’s services are accessed by users (e.g., via a web or mobile browser) (collectively, the “Sites”), and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.

This policy applies to the information we collect:

  • On the Sites.

  • In email, text, and other electronic messages between you and the Sites.

It does not apply to information collected by:

  • Us offline or through any other means, including on any other website operated by any third party; or 

  • Any third party, including through any application or content (including advertising) that may link to or be accessible from or through the Sites.

Please read this policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your information and how we will treat it. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, your choice is not to use our Sites. By accessing or using the Sites, you agree to this privacy policy. This policy may change from time to time (see Changes to Our Privacy Policy). Your continued use of the Sites after we make changes is deemed to be acceptance of those changes, so please check the policy periodically for updates. 

Children Under the Age of 16

Our Sites are not intended for children under 16 years of age. No one under the age of 16 may provide any information to or on the Sites. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are under 16, do not use or provide any information on the Sites or provide any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, email address, or any screen name or user name you may use. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 16 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. Information We Collect About You and How We Collect It

We collect several types of information from and about users of our Sites, including information:

  • By which you may be personally identified, such as name, email address, Images that you may upload that may identify you, such as a profile picture, telephone number or any other identifier by which you may be contacted online or offline (“personal information”);

  • That is about you but individually does not identify you, such as age range, income range, membership status, geolocation, shopping receipt data, including data and time of purchase, store of purchase, list of items purchased; and/or

  • About your internet connection, the equipment you use to access our Sites, and usage details.

We collect this information:

  • Directly from you when you provide it to us.

  • Automatically as you navigate through the Sites. Information collected automatically may include usage details, IP addresses, and information collected through cookies and other tracking technologies.

Information You Provide to Us  

The information we collect on or through our Sites may include:

  • Information that you provide by filling in forms on our Sites. This includes information provided at the time of requesting further services. We may also ask you for information when you report a problem with our Sites.

  • Records and copies of your correspondence (including email addresses) if you contact us.

Information We Collect Through Automatic Data Collection Technologies  

As you navigate through and interact with our Sites, we may use automatic data collection technologies to collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions, and patterns, including:

  •  Details of your use of our Sites, including location data, logs, and other communication data and the resources that you access and use on the Sites.

  • Analytics (Google Analytics). Google Analytics is a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”), to assist us in understanding how our Sites are used. Google Analytics will place cookies on your computer or mobile device that will generate information that we select about your use of the Sites, including your computer’s or mobile device’s IP address. That information will be transmitted directly to and stored by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser. Please note that by doing so, you may not be able to use the full functionality of our Sites.   • To carry out our obligations and enforce our rights arising from any contracts entered into between you and us, including for billing and collection.

  • To notify you about changes to our Sites or any products or services we offer or provide through it.

  • For any other purpose with your consent.

We may disclose aggregated information about our users, and information that does not identify any individual, without restriction.

We may also disclose your personal information:

  • If we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of NBF&JA, our members, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection.

Choices About How We Use and Disclose Your Information

We strive to provide you with choices regarding the personal information you provide to us. We have created mechanisms to provide you with the following control over your information. For the Sites, you can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable or refuse cookies, please note that some parts of the Sites may then be inaccessible or not function properly.

Accessing and Correcting Your Information

You may also contact us to request access to, correct, or delete any personal information that you have provided to us. We cannot delete your personal information except by also deleting your user account. We may not accommodate a request to change information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect.

Data Security

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the Internet is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted to our Sites. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for the circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Sites.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

It is our policy to post any changes we make to our privacy policy on this page with a notice that the privacy policy has been updated. If we make material changes to how we treat our users’ personal information, we will notify you. The date the privacy policy was last revised is identified at the top of the page. You are responsible for ensuring we have an up-to-date, active, and deliverable email address for you and for periodically visiting our Sites and this privacy policy to check for any changes.
