NBFJA to launch #DefendBlackLand Campaign

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(ATLANTA, GA) The National Black Food and Justice Alliance is excited to embark upon our first of two social media resource campaigns in 2024. On June 11, the #DefendBlackLand campaign will launch in support of Land Defense efforts under our Black Land and Power (BLP) initiative. Our goal is to generate $150,000 in resources to support land defense and retention as well as 50 acres in land reparations to liberate land from the speculative market to secure it for sound ecological, social, and financial stewardship by rural and urban Black farmers, foresters and land stewards.

Black communities have a deep connection to the earth with land as a source of spiritual, economic, cultural, and communal grounding. Overcoming obstacles and barriers that prevent Black land stewards from engaging in meaningful and impactful work requires collective effort and support from ALL of us. Thus the need for deep sustained capacity and resources to collectively #DefendBlackLand and liberate land from the speculative market is imperative.

To galvanize our efforts, an allied philanthropic partner has provided NBFJA a $50,000 matching grant! We need your help to secure at least an additional $100,000 and 50 acres of land. The #DefendBlackLand campaign will double our 2024 budget for land defense.

Please follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter/X over the next three weeks as we share riveting stories and frontline information on barriers to Black land retention and acquisition, amplifying narratives, and ways to support! Please DONATE, LIKE, and RESHARE our posts with your networks. Keep a lookout for more information, and be sure to support! #DefendBlackLand
