Celebrating 10 Years of Sacred Black Space

This February, we honor a decade of resistance, resilience, and reclamation as we celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the National Black Food and Justice Alliance (NBFJA).

On February 5, 2015, two of our co-founders placed their hands on each other’s hearts and breathed life into a movement—a movement deeply rooted in the sacred traditions of Black agrarianism, cooperative economics, and the fight for land and food sovereignty.

For the past 10 years, we have cultivated sacred Black space— spaces where our people can breathe, build, and belong. From the soil to the streets, we have nurtured networks, redistributed millions in resources, and fortified the work of Black farmers, organizers, and culture bearers across the country.

This is a month of remembrance and a portal to the future. Throughout this month and beyond, we will share the stories, archives, lessons, and expansive victories that have shaped our journey. We invite you to walk with us—to honor the past, celebrate our present, and dream forward into a future where Black land, food, and liberation thrive.
